1. What did you want to be when you grew up, and how does it compare with being a DJ?
It's funny, I always wanted to entertain people for a living, but I considered everything but radio. I was into acting as a kid, started doing stand-up comedy at 16, was part of a sketch and improv troop, was a member of a band, and even co-wrote a play. But, as a stand-up comic I was often asked to appear on radio shows to promote gigs and I started liking the idea of radio. So although my adolescent dream job would have been being a Saturday Night Live cast member, or hosting a late night talk show, I'm very happy with how things have worked out.
2. What's your idea of a perfect day in San Diego?
I love heading out to the beach to have breakfast. Then I'd probably take my daughter to one of San Diego's many awesome family attractions or a park. Then I'd have a babysitter watch my daughter while my wife and I went out to a nice dinner. At dinner I'd get bit by a radioactive bug, and be given superpowers...OR come up with the idea for the next billion-dollar social network. Oh, and I'd get a really good parking spot, too.
3. How did you end up in San Diego?
I grew up in the Bay Area. I was lucky enough to come to San Diego to take a job in radio, and I've fallen madly in love with this city and consider it home.
4. What's your favorite thing about San Diego?
The people. The weather. The location. The beaches. The guy that rollerblades around Mission Beach with a flag coming out of his thong.
5. What's your favorite song on the radio right now?
It's hard to say since Delana is always singing over the music all morning, but I like "For the First Time" by the Script, and "Forget You" by Cee-lo Green. That song would have been my ANTHEM in my early super-broke, super-single radio days!
6. You can only have 5 meals for the rest of your life. What are they?
A burger from Ho-Dads. Huevos Rancheros at the Green Flash. A bowl of gumbo from Bud's Louisiana Cafe. A tado plate from Tacos El Gordo. And my homemade Hawaiian Kalua Pork with macaroni salad and rice!
7. And what would you wash all that down with?
An ice cold Thomas Kemper light root beer.
8. What is your biggest vice?
I've cut way back on some of my vices, like video games, since becoming a dad. I guess I'd have to say reading. Between books, magazines, comic books (don't judge!) and the web, I read a LOT.
9. If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
I'd like to be a dog because they have all of the qualities that are best in us people. Or maybe a monkey because they throw poop at their enemies.
10. If someone wrote a biography of your life, what would the title be?
I'd want it to be called "Twilite," because the confusion over the spelling might make more people accidentally buy it.
