For almost a decade, “AJ’s Kids” has looked out for more than 10,000 of San Diego children who visit Rady Children’s Hospital every year. Thanks to the amazing generosity of our community, we have been able to provide hundreds of thousands of toys to the hospital's brave patients.
Monetary donations have also given us the the ability to bring more fun in other ways, such as making over playrooms, fixing up gardens, providing video game consoles, and more.
Today, we are excited to announce that the “AJ’s Kids” fund is now going to provide a new service to children with very specific circumstances. For some patients who have life-threatening illnesses, it is better for them to be at home instead of in the hospital. These kids are cared for at home, and spend almost all of their time in their rooms.
There is a wonderful organization called Special Spaces that goes into homes, and turns ordinary bedrooms into the bedrooms of children’s dreams. It is an amazing gift to the kids and their families, but Rady hasn't had the funding to provide it for their patients.
Until now.
As of today, “AJ’s Kids” will provide the funding for select kids who are treated at home to have their ordinary rooms transformed into Special Spaces! We are excited about this new venture, and we will share more with you along the way.
Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation vice president Carol Damon-Scherer had this to say:
"Rady Children's Hospital is committed to providing excellent medical care in a healing environment. By creating a special room for these children to enjoy , AJ's Kids' Fund is helping to lift their spirits and brighten their days. Thank you, AJ and your listeners, for everything you do to help our patients."
“AJ’s Kids” would not be able to do this—or ANYTHING—without the continued support of the amazingly generous people of our community. So once again, THANK YOU for all that you do!
